What we are looking for:

 

PfireStorm is looking for a motivated, mid-level Systems Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our Head of IT & Development to fully understand our existing framework and processes and then grow the development capacity going forward.  

 

What you will be doing:

 

You will be working alongside our Head Developer to advance our development capability and capacity. You will initially be building your own knowledge of the PfireStorm system. Thereafter, you will be working with our Operations Team to enhance our system and ensure value-add by increasing our development approach and capacity.

 

Where you will be based:

 

You will be office based, in Ballito, KZN. The current team is 5-7 people with the intention to grow. Open plan office space with all necessary amenities.  

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

 

  • Strong knowledge of PHP (3+ years practical OOP experience, WordPress does not count)
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and related tools/packages (3+ years practical experience)
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL (3+ years practical experience)
  • Competent with source control (practical experience using Git/Github)
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment
  • Self-directed and self-motivated, able to up-skill and learn new technologies without supervision

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • 3+ years systems development and other areas stipulated above

 

OTHER

 

  • Business experience preferable but not mandatory

 

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Outcomes based – must be able to deliver agreed outcomes on time and in line with company standards.
  • Confident, professional, and intuitive – must be able to handle internal queries as well as external queries, from time to time. Efficient meeting management and active listening skills are imperative.
  • Adept communicator – must be able to proficiently and eloquently liaise with the operations team to ensure excellent communication channels are maintained and relationships are preserved. Interpersonal communication and professional conduct are of the utmost importance.
  • Problem Solving – must have excellent attention to detail and an ability to identify challenges, generate ideas and creatively produce solutions.
  • Customer Centric Approach – must focus on user experience and user efficiency to enhance overall functionality.  
  • GRIT and Resilience – must have an appetite for a changing, fast-paced environment that requires agility to navigate. No day is the same. Be prepared to get stuck in.
